Job Description: Vivergo Fuels (VFL) is a joint venture between BP, British Sugar, and Du Pont which has been created to build and operate a world-scale bioethanol plant at Saltend in Hull. Business Context: Vivergo’s ethanol production will be apporximately in excess of 400 million litres per year and achieving maximum value for the ethanol sales is fundamental to Vivergo’s business case. The Ethanol Logistics Manager will be accountable for managing the logistics across the entire portfolio of ethanol sales – term and spot, via ship and road tanker – ensuring highly efficient logistics bringing optimum value to Vivergo. Dimensions: The Ethanol Logistics Manager will have accountability for the logistics across the entire ethanol portfolio. This will include arranging and managing contracts for shipping and road transport suppliers as well as storage tanks, the inspection process and all logistics paperwork, nominations to and interface with customers’ logistics departments. Role: The Ethanol Logistics Manager is accountable for all ethanol logistics, ensuring product is moved on time, efficiently, and at maximum value. The role must effectively liaise with business optimisation and ethanol sales in order to effectively manage the physical ethanol movements. The role sits within the Commercial team and will liaise across the Commercial and Operations teams in order to fully deliver the entire scope of logistics. In addition, there will be a logistics admin/support role which will report into the Ethanol Logistics Manager. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: LOGISTICS: •Managing the logistics for the entirety of Vivergo’s ethanol production – 400 + million litres per year. Includes establishing supply chains with term customers (some fob, some delivered) and logistics around spot sales •Working closely with the Ethanol Sales Manager to ensure cost-effective optimization of logistics with sales to meet customers’ needs •Setting up and managing relationships with ship brokers, agents, inspectors, road haulage providers, jetty operators, and tankage providers •Managing and executing the logistics nominations system, interface relationships with customers’ logistics teams •Accurate and timely entry of logistics and movement information into systems in order to facilitate cargo paperwork, regulatory reporting, and invoicing Additional Pre-Operational Period Accountabilities: •Develop appropriate spreadsheet (or other) tool to manage and monitor logistics movements in an integrated way with the Ethanol Sales Manager and Production Planning •Develop and implement the full set of policies and procedures around all logistics processes and areas of accountability. Deliver any training required across the team •Develop and implement logistics nominations procedures for shipping, road haulage, etc. Ensure these are tested with key customers and suppliers. •Work with the Procurement Manager to establish contractual agreements with logistics suppliers •Work with the Operations team to establish out-of-hours and emergency logistics procedures. OPERATIONS: •Establish and sustain VFL's ethanol logistics procedures (handbook) •Work with the Finance team to drive continuous improvement in the "Order to Cash" process, ensuring appropriate controls and KPIs are in place and existing systems functionality is fully utilised •Ensure that all logistical arrangements, cargos, pricing and payment terms meet business operational requirements and terms of contracts •Establish and sustain contingency plans for logistics scenarios in order to ensure plant can maintain production at all times LEADERSHIP •Lead the development and delivery of the ethanol logistics strategy in conjunction with the ethanol sales strategy and adapt as necessary in line with market opportunities and business priorities. •Powerfully engage across the business teams to ensure business value is maximised and risks are mitigated •Ensure that VFLs HSSE and ethical standards are fully applied in VFL's contacts with ethanol customers and logistics suppliers Ideal Candidate: •Professional with relevant physical commodity logistics experience – preferably oil products, chemicals, or biofuels •Strong understanding of UK and European logistics infrastructures •Shipping logistics experience required, road haulage experience would also be helpful •Strong commercial acumen – ability to drive for best value •End-to-end knowledge of the logistics process •Strong track record in developing and managing customer and supplier relationships •Proven ability to understand commodity markets and regulations, with regards to how they impact on logistics •Ability to work at both the strategic level, setting up the business, and at the detailed implementation/execution level •Motivated self-starter •Ability and willingness to grow with the organisation and adapt as the market evolves
